GasGas is the manufacturer with the most points in this MXGP of Germany. Led by Kiara Fontanesi, who won the first race and finished second in the second, the Spanish brand is in second place. Yamaha maintains the championship lead thanks to Lotte van Drunen (3/1) this weekend. KTM holds onto third place and remains in the title race thanks to Lynn Valk (4/3).
This third GP marks the halfway point of the WMX World Championship. Lotte van Drunen retains the red plate but sees Kiara Fontanesi closing in. Lynn Valk remains in ambush, as does Daniela Guillen.
Lotte van Drunen took the holeshot this morning ahead of Lynn Valk, Kiara Fontanesi, Larissa Papenmeier, and Daniela Guillen. There were no crashes at the start for the 40 drivers. Martine Hughes took advantage of the first few corners to move ahead of Guillen in fifth place. The leading trio quickly widened their gap on the other drivers. Larissa Papenmeier led Martin Hughes and Daniela Guillen ahead of a third group led by Amandine Verstappen ahead of April Franzoni, Malou Jakobsen, Shana van der Vlist, and Danée Gelissen. On the third lap, Martine Hughes crashed and dropped outside the top 10. On a circuit resurfaced overnight, only one line was available for a good part of the race, resulting in few overtaking attempts. Lynn Valk lost contact with the leading duo lap after lap.
Kiara Fontanesi takes her second consecutive victory. The Italian is at her best. Lotte van Drunen takes second place after dominating the second race. Daniela Guillen completes the podium thanks to her overtaking of Papenmeier in the closing laps.

Amber Simons crashed this Saturday during Time Practice for the MXGP of Germany at the Teutschenthal circuit. The young Dutchwoman suffered a severe concussion and has no memory after the crash. After spending the night in the hospital, she will have to rest. This is a setback for Amber, who had a strong start to the WMX World Championship season. She will be back at the next MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem on August 23rd and 24th.
The first race of the weekend took place in Teutschenthal, Germany, in the heat and on a well-prepared course with some nice ruts.

The second session of the day featured the WMX Time Practice. Kiara Fontanesi set the fastest time in 1:56.934. Lotte van Drunen is second in 1.58.210. Daniela Guillen was third, with a time of 1:58.411. The first race will start at 3:00 PM.
