On Sunday morning, ahead of the men’s Warm-Up sessions, the second moto of the MXGP of Australia, the final round of the WMX World Championship, took place.

Starting well inside the leading group, Daniela Guillén quickly moved into the lead before facing a response from Lotte van Drunen. A few laps later, the Spaniard attacked again and this time made it stick, pulling away to claim her second GP win of the season.

Kiara Fontanesi finished second. The six-time WMX World Champion was less comfortable than on Saturday, but her result allowed her to tie with Guillén on points and secure second place in the championship, just one point ahead of the Spaniard.

At the front early on, Lotte van Drunen resisted Guillén for several laps before being overtaken, then saw Fontanesi and Charli Cannon move past as well. Third overall this weekend was enough for the De Baets MXGP Team rider to seal her second consecutive WMX World Championship title at only 18 years of age.

Racing at home, Charli Cannon was determined to bounce back after Saturday’s mistake. The QuadLock Honda rider showed strong pace to finish fourth overall, an encouraging result ahead of what many hope will be a full season in 2026. Larissa Papenmeier made the most of a solid start, delivering a consistent ride to secure a Top 5 finish for the weekend. Thanks to this result, the SYE 423 Racing Team rider concluded the season fourth in the standings. Amandine Verstappen, caught up in a start crash, could not challenge Papenmeier this time. Sixth in Australia, the Belgian still wrapped up fifth in the championship on her return.

Further down the order, Madi Simpson delivered another strong ride for seventh overall, underlining her potential. Leah Rimbas showed impressive speed to take eighth, while Madison Healey, hampered by front brake issues, ended ninth despite promising speed. Taylor Thompson completed the Top 10, highlighted by a strong sixth-place ride in Race 2 that confirmed her level.

Alexandra Massury impressed with a strong comeback ride, earning her first Top 10 moto finish and eleventh overall. Nellie Fransson took twelfth, ahead of Taylah McCutcheon, who endured a tough weekend. After a strong start, she was involved in a first-lap crash that also took down Verstappen, then later suffered another incident that forced her out. Despite being injured in the foot, the Australian showed great pace and deserves another chance in WMX.

Mia Tongue placed fourteenth ahead of Darci Whalley, followed by Emily Lambert, Aneta Cepelaková, Felicity Shrimpton, Sienna Giudice, and Samantha Macarthur, who rounded out the Top 20.
