This Sunday saw the third round of the Swedish Motocross Championship in Skene. The first big surprise of the day was the presence of Sara Andersen, who is still suffering from a broken collarbone.
In the first race, Nellie Fransson got the best start ahead of Matilda Huss and Tyra Bäckström. Behind her were Malou Jakobsen, Martine Hughes, and Sara Andersen. The first lap was a heated one, as Huss found herself in last place in the group, riding on Andersen's wheel. Jakobsen and Hughes battled to overtake Bäckström.
On the fourth lap, Martine Hughes (Kawsaki Sveridge) overtook two riders to take the lead ahead of Malou Jakobsen and Nellie Fransson (Yamaha JK Racing). Sara Andersen was battling with Matilda Huss. Natalie Kane was behind this group with Barbara Aagaard Andersen (GasGas), Wilma Hansson, and Tuva Bernhardsson.
Martine Hughes extended her lead over Malou Jakobsen (KTM Scandinavia) lap after lap and won the race. At the halfway point, Sara Andersen (Wozniak MX Racing) moved into third place, overtaking Nellie Fransson, who was unable to maintain her pace. Matilda Huss (Husqvarna) emerged victorious from her battle with Tyra Bäckström (GasGas) and Natalie Kane for fourth place on the penultimate lap. Nellie Fransson had to settle for seventh place after leading the race. Barbara Aagaard Andersen was eighth ahead of Wilma Hansson. After an early crash, Elsa Andersson Löf made a strong comeback to secure a top 10 finish. Bäckström was penalized two positions after the race.
The second race was completely different, with few overtaking attempts by the leaders in the standings. Martine Hughes took the lead from the start before building a significant gap over her pursuers to claim a second victory. Malou Jakobsen led the chase group and secured second place ahead of her friend Sara Andersen. Matilda Huss finished fourth, just one second behind Anderssen. Tyra Bäckström secured fifth place by finishing in this group. Natalie Kane finished sixth after overtaking Nellie Fransson. Elsa Andersson Löf made another comeback to finish eighth ahead of Barbara Aagaard Andersen, who had a poor start. Wilma Hansson completed the top 10 after her strong start.
Martine Hughes claimed another victory after her success in Round 2 and extended her lead in the championship. Malou Jakobsen concluded her weekend with a second place after her victory yesterday in Denmark. What can we say about Sara Andersen? Injured, she takes a podium finish when no one expected her to be on her bike. Matilda Huss finishes fourth today and loses contact with Hughes and sees Jakobsen return. Natalie Kane scores an excellent Top 5. The Irishwoman is gaining momentum. Tyra Bäckström is finally sixth after the penalty and ahead of Nellie Fransson, who is learning. She has had a very good start to the races. Also present in Denmark yesterday, Barbara Aagaard Andersen is eighth. Riding her 125, Elsa Andersson Löf takes ninth place. Good training before the last two rounds of the EMX Women 125 European Championship. Wilma Hansson completes the Top 10.
